SteamID64 is a 64-bit integer (e.g. 76561198012345678) that uniquely identifies every Steam account. It is the most common format used by the Steam Web API and third-party tools.

What is the Steam2 ID format?

The Steam2 format (e.g. STEAM_0:1:26042975) is the legacy text representation used by early Source engine games. The leading digit (0 or 1) is the universe — for public accounts it is always treated as 1 interchangeably with 0.

SteamID3 (e.g. [U:1:52085951]) is a newer compact format used in CS2, TF2, and other modern Source games. The U indicates a normal user account, and the final number is the 32-bit account ID.

How does the conversion work?

All formats share the same 32-bit account ID. SteamID64 = 76561197960265728 (the Steam base constant) + account ID. Steam2 splits the account ID into W (last bit) and Z (remaining bits): STEAM_0:W:Z. SteamID3 is simply [U:1:accountID].

Can I convert a custom Steam profile URL?

Vanity URLs (e.g. steamcommunity.com/id/username) cannot be resolved purely client-side because they require a Steam API lookup. However, numeric profile URLs (steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198xxxxxxxxx) are converted instantly.

Why does the Steam2 universe sometimes show as 0 and sometimes as 1?

Steam historically used universe 0 for public accounts in text IDs but 1 in the numeric representation. Both STEAM_0:x:y and STEAM_1:x:y refer to the same account. This tool outputs STEAM_0 for maximum compatibility with older tools.
