Editorial Policy
Last updated: October 1, 2026
This policy explains how Top10k selects, researches, writes, updates, and monetizes AI tool reviews and category guides.
The short version: commercial relationships do not determine our conclusions. We distinguish verified vendor facts, third-party observations, and hands-on findings; we do not claim product testing unless a retained test artifact supports it.
1. What we publish
Top10k publishes product reviews, comparisons, category shortlists, pricing summaries, and workflow guidance. A directory listing is not automatically a recommendation. Category placement describes a product's primary use case and may be revised when its positioning changes.
2. Research and source standards
We prioritize official product pages, documentation, pricing pages, terms, privacy policies, security material, release notes, and developer documentation. Time-sensitive claims should identify when they were checked. Community reports and search results may provide context, but they do not override primary sources for pricing, licensing, ownership, or technical availability.
3. Desk research and hands-on testing
A desk review evaluates published evidence without operating every paid feature. We state that limitation where it matters. We use terms such as “tested,” “measured,” or “observed in use” only when an accepted test record, screenshot, output, or reproducible procedure exists. Vendor demonstrations are described as vendor claims, not independent tests.
4. Selection and ranking
Selections are based on fit for the stated user and task, documented capabilities, operational limitations, pricing clarity, rights and privacy terms, integration needs, and available evidence. A tool can be excluded when evidence is too weak, the destination is unavailable, or its use case does not match the category intent.
5. Affiliate links and commercial independence
Some outbound links are affiliate links. Top10k may receive a commission when a visitor purchases through one of them, at no additional cost to the visitor. Affiliate availability does not guarantee inclusion, placement, a favorable verdict, or a higher ranking. Sponsored and affiliate destinations use appropriate link attributes.
6. Pricing and changing product information
Prices, credits, plan names, availability, and terms can change after publication. We present a concise price in directory tables and explain important billing conditions in the review. Readers should confirm the current checkout price and contract terms before purchasing.
7. Updates and corrections
We update material claims when we find stronger evidence or when a product changes. Corrections should replace unsupported language rather than silently strengthening it. Broken destinations may be replaced with a verified official page or removed until a valid destination is available.
8. Authors and accountability
Published reviews identify an author or reviewer. Learn about the people responsible on the team page. Questions, corrections, or evidence can be sent through the contact page.
