Is my text uploaded to a server?

No. All conversion happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your text never leaves your device.

How does ALL-CAPS heading detection work?

Any short line (under 80 characters) that is entirely uppercase and contains at least two words is treated as an H2 heading. Lines at the very start of the document are treated as H1.

What counts as a list item?

Lines that already start with a hyphen (-), asterisk (*), or a number followed by a period (1.) are preserved as Markdown list items when list detection is enabled.

Does the tool handle paragraph spacing?

Yes. Consecutive non-empty lines are grouped into paragraphs. A blank line in the input becomes a paragraph break in the Markdown output.

What does the "Wrap long lines" option do?

When enabled, lines longer than 80 characters inside paragraphs are soft-wrapped by inserting a line break, which improves readability in plain-text Markdown viewers.

Can I convert the output back to plain text?

This tool converts one way only — plain text to Markdown. To strip Markdown back to plain text, use a dedicated Markdown-to-plain-text tool.
