Cutoffs must satisfy 100 ≥ A > B > C > D ≥ 0 (below D is F).
Unit Relationships & Scope:
• Total = Correct (earned) + Wrong (missed).
• Score % = (Correct / Total) × 100.
• Plus/minus splits each letter band into thirds (B− 80–82.99, B 83–86.99, B+ 87–89.99 on the 10-point scale).
• Single-assessment grader. Does not calculate curves, weighted categories, or GPA.

Scales vary by school and district; some colleges use 94/90/87 style cutoffs or no A+. Set custom cutoffs to match your syllabus.
Formula and worked example
score % = (total − wrong) ÷ total × 100 · points per question = 100 ÷ total · minimum right for a grade = ⌈cutoff × total ÷ 100⌉
A 40-question test with 6 wrong: 34 ÷ 40 × 100 = 85%, a B on the 10-point scale (B on the 7-point scale too, since 85 is its B cutoff). Each question is worth 2.5 points, so an A (90%) needs ⌈0.9 × 40⌉ = 36 right, or at most 4 wrong.
