What is the minimum fan required to win?

Under Hong Kong rules the minimum is 3 fan. Hands below 3 fan are not valid winning hands and this calculator will reject them with an error.

How does self-draw (zimo) scoring work?

On a zimo win every other player pays the winner the full hand value individually. The loser column shows the same amount for all three non-winners.

How does a discard win scoring work?

The player who discarded the winning tile pays the winner the full hand value. The two non-involved players each pay half the hand value.

What does the dealer bonus do?

When the dealer (East seat) wins, all payments are multiplied by 1.5 and rounded to the nearest whole number. This reflects the standard Hong Kong rule that dealers earn more.

Are scores saved if I close the browser?

Yes. All player names and round history are saved to your browser's localStorage and restored when you reopen the page.

How is fan converted to points?

Each fan doubles the base unit (1 unit). So 3 fan = 8 points, 4 fan = 16, 5 fan = 32, and so on following the standard Hong Kong doubling scale.
