How is the fiscal year label determined?

By convention, the fiscal year is named for the calendar year in which it ends. For example, a fiscal year running July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025 is called FY 2025. When the fiscal year starts in January, the label matches the calendar year.

What fiscal year start months are supported?

All 12 months are supported. Common presets include January (calendar year — US companies, most corporations), April (UK government, India), July (Australia, many US states and companies), and October (US federal government).

How are fiscal quarters defined?

Q1 covers the first three months of the fiscal year (months 1–3), Q2 covers months 4–6, Q3 covers months 7–9, and Q4 covers months 10–12.

What is fiscal week number?

Fiscal week 1 starts on the first day of the fiscal year. The week count increments every 7 days. A 365-day year has 52 full weeks plus one extra day; a leap year may produce week 53.

Why does FY 2025 sometimes cover dates in 2024?

Because the fiscal year is named for the calendar year it ends in. A July–June fiscal year labeled FY 2025 starts on July 1, 2024 and ends June 30, 2025.

Does this tool account for leap years?

Yes. The total days in the fiscal year (365 or 366) are computed from the actual start and end dates, so leap-day fiscal years are handled correctly.
