Minimum % for each letter

Summary

Enter raw exam scores, choose a curving method, and instantly see adjusted scores and letter grades side by side.

How it works

  1. Enter each student's raw score (0–100) in the score list, one per row.
  2. Choose a curving method: Add Points, Square Root Curve, or Scale to Highest Score.
  3. For "Add Points," type the number of points to add to every score.
  4. For "Scale to Highest Score," enter the target maximum (default 100); scores are scaled so the highest raw score maps to that target.
  5. Click Calculate to see every score's adjusted value and the letter grade before and after curving.
  6. The summary bar shows the class average and grade distribution for both raw and curved scores.

Use cases

  • Instructors curving a midterm or final exam to raise the class average.
  • Students estimating their curved grade before official results are posted.
  • Comparing different curving methods side by side to pick the fairest approach.
  • Verifying that a curved score set produces the desired grade distribution.
  • Quick sanity-check when your instructor announces a curve but not the exact method.
  • Converting square-root-curved scores to letter grades for a 100-point scale.
