How it works

  1. Identify the three anatomical landmarks: the Anterior Superior Iliac Spine (ASIS), the center of the patella, and the tibial tuberosity.
  2. Either enter the Q-angle directly in degrees, or switch to coordinate mode and enter the X/Y pixel or millimeter coordinates of each landmark from an imaging measurement.
  3. The calculator draws two vectors: ASIS-to-patella (quadriceps line of pull) and tibial tuberosity-to-patella (patellar tendon axis).
  4. The angle between those two vectors is the Q-angle, computed using the dot-product formula.
  5. The result is classified as Low, Normal (male), Normal (female), Borderline, or Elevated to guide clinical context.
