What is a liquidation price?

The liquidation price is the price at which an exchange automatically closes your leveraged position to prevent your losses from exceeding your deposited margin. When the market reaches this level, your initial margin is forfeited.

How is the liquidation price calculated?

What leverage should I use?

Lower leverage (2x–5x) gives you more room before liquidation and is safer for beginners. Higher leverage (20x–100x) brings the liquidation price much closer to your entry price, meaning even small price moves can wipe your position. Most professional traders use 5x or less.

Can I use this for cross-margin and isolated margin?

This calculator assumes isolated margin mode, where only the margin allocated to that position is at risk. In cross-margin mode, your entire account balance backs the position, so the actual liquidation price may differ depending on your total account equity.
