How is a gymnastics final score calculated?

What is the difference between D-score and E-score?

The D-score rewards the content and difficulty of the routine (skills, connections, composition requirements) and has no upper limit. The E-score starts at 10.000 and is reduced for execution errors like form breaks, balance checks, and falls.

How much is deducted for a fall?

A fall is typically a 1.0 point deduction from the E-score. Smaller errors are deducted as 0.1 (small), 0.3 (medium), or 0.5 (large), depending on severity.

What counts as a Neutral Deduction?

Neutral Deductions cover rule infractions unrelated to execution quality, such as stepping out of bounds, exceeding the time limit, line violations, or receiving assistance from a coach. These are subtracted directly from the final score.

Can the E-score go below zero?

No. The Execution score is capped at a minimum of 0.000, even if the total deductions applied would otherwise take it negative.
