Uses the published IAAF/World Athletics scoring formula (fixed a/b/c coefficients per event). Treat totals as a close estimate, not a certified competition score.
Summary
Enter times and marks for all 10 decathlon events to get per-event points and a combined score using the published IAAF scoring formula.
How it works
- Enter your time or distance for each of the 10 events; leave any event blank if you have not competed in it yet.
- Times go in seconds (or minutes:seconds for the 1500m); jumps and throws go in meters.
- Each event score uses the published IAAF formula: points = a x (b - time)^c for running, or a x (mark - b)^c for jumps and throws.
- Day 1 and Day 2 subtotals update live, along with the combined 10-event total.
- Use "Load Sample" to see an elite-level score set, or "Reset" to clear every field.
Use cases
- Score a decathlon meet event-by-event as results come in.
- Check how a single event change (like a faster 400m) shifts the combined total.
- Estimate a target score needed across the remaining events on day two.
- Compare two athletes' combined totals from published results.
- Teach how the a(b-t)^c and a(m-b)^c scoring formulas convert marks into comparable points.
- Plan event-by-event targets before a multi-event competition.
