Games Needed to Reach a Target Average

Add at least one game and enter a target average to see what you need to bowl.

Summary

A bowling average is the mean of all your game scores over a series, league session, or season. This tool lets you enter each game score one at a time, then instantly shows your running average, total pins, and your best and worst games. It also works backward: tell it a target average and how many games you have left, and it calculates the score you need to average in those games to reach it.

How it works

  1. Enter a single game score (0 to 300) and click Add Game, or press Enter.
  2. Repeat for every game in the series you want to average.
  3. The average, total pins, games played, high game, and low game update after every entry.
  4. Remove a single game with its X button, or clear the whole list to start over.
  5. Enter a target average and how many games you have left to see the average you need per game to hit it.

Use cases

  • Track your average across a league night as each game finishes.
  • Figure out what you need to bowl in your last game to hit a season average goal.
  • Compare your current average against a league or handicap threshold.
  • Check whether a personal-best game was an outlier compared to your usual scores.
  • Log practice scores to see if your average is trending up over time.
  • Settle a friendly bet about who has the higher average after a set of games.
