How does the age calculator work?

It counts the whole months from your birth date to the end date, splits them into years and months, then counts the days left over. Total days are the calendar difference between the two dates, so a daylight saving change never adds or drops an hour.

Can I calculate age between two specific dates?

Yes. Enter your birth date and set a custom "Calculate to" date to find the age at any point in time.

How accurate is the hour and minute count?

The calculation is based on midnight-to-midnight civil calendar days, so the hour and minute counts reflect full calendar days elapsed, independent of daylight saving time shifts.

How are February 29 birthdays and month-end dates handled?

In non-leap years, February 29 birthdays map to February 28 across exact age, total months, birthday banner, and countdown (for example, 2000-02-29 through 2023-02-28 is exactly 23 years, 0 months, and 0 days). Similarly, dates clamp to the final day of shorter target months, so 2024-01-31 through 2024-02-29 is counted as 0 years, 1 month, and 0 days.

How is the zodiac sign determined?

The zodiac sign is determined by the month and day of birth according to the standard Western astrological calendar (e.g., Aries: March 21 – April 19).

What if I enter a future end date?

The calculator accepts any valid date on or after your birth date as the end date, including future dates, and calculates the age at that point.

How old am I if I was born in 2000?

Subtract the birth year from the current year, then take off 1 if your birthday has not come yet this year. Born in 2000, you are 26 in 2026 after your birthday and 25 before it. Someone born January 1, 2000 is 26 years, 9 months and 8 days old on October 9, 2026.

Why is my age one day off?

When Calculate to date is blank, the calculator uses today's date from your device clock and time zone, so a birthday starts at your local midnight. If the date on your phone or computer is wrong, or you want the age for another place, enter that date in Calculate to date. Without JavaScript the page falls back to the UTC date.

How do I calculate age in Excel?

With the birth date in A2, =DATEDIF(A2,TODAY(),"Y") gives full years and =DATEDIF(A2,TODAY(),"YM") the months after the last birthday. Microsoft warns that the "MD" unit for leftover days can return wrong results near month ends, so =TODAY()-EDATE(A2,DATEDIF(A2,TODAY(),"M")) is safer for the days.
