How is the WOMAC Likert score calculated?

Each authorized Likert item is scored 0–4. Pain has 5 items (0–20), stiffness 2 (0–8), and physical function 17 (0–68). Their raw sum ranges from 0 to 96; higher values indicate worse symptoms or limitation.

How does this calculator normalize WOMAC to 0–100?

For each scale, normalized score = raw score ÷ maximum raw score × 100. The total uses raw total ÷ 96 × 100. Report this transformation because studies may use different WOMAC formats and directions.

Why are the 24 WOMAC questions not displayed here?

WOMAC is a licensed instrument. This page scores totals from an authorized form but does not reproduce or distribute the questionnaire. Licensing information is available from the WOMAC rights holder.

Can I compare WOMAC results from different versions?

Not automatically. Likert, visual-analogue and numerical-rating versions have different item ranges, and some reports reverse the direction. Record the version, language, scoring direction and missing-item method.
