Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. All conversion happens inside your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. Your files never leave your device.

Why do I need a background color?

JPG does not support transparency. Any transparent (alpha) pixels in the source image are filled with the chosen background color during conversion. White is the safest default for most use cases.

What input formats are supported?

WebP is the primary target. As a bonus, PNG, GIF, and BMP files are also accepted and converted to JPG.

What quality setting should I use?

Quality 85–90 is the best starting point for photos — visually near-lossless with a reasonable file size. For thumbnails or web icons, 70–80 is fine. For archival or print work, use 95+.

Is there a file size or count limit?

The limit is your browser's available memory. Very large images (over 30 megapixels) or batches of many files may be slow on low-end devices. Split large batches if needed.

Does this support animated WebP?

Browsers render only the first frame of an animated WebP on a canvas element, so only the first frame is exported as JPG. For animated images, use a dedicated video tool.
