How it works

  1. Enter the patient's weight in kilograms or pounds.
  2. Enter the pre-transfusion platelet count (×10⁹/L).
  3. Enter the target platelet count you want to reach (×10⁹/L).
  4. Optionally adjust the blood volume per kg (default 70 mL/kg) and platelets per unit (default 60 × 10⁹ per unit for pooled or apheresis).
  5. The calculator applies the standard formula to compute units needed and the expected post-transfusion increment.
  6. The Corrected Count Increment (CCI) is shown to help evaluate adequacy of the transfusion.
