Where do I find the label rate and spray volume?

The label rate is printed on the pesticide label under "Application Rate" or "Mixing Instructions" — it states how much product to use per acre. The spray volume (gallons per acre) comes from your sprayer setup: run a catch test at field speed and pressure, or consult your nozzle manufacturer's chart. Common spray volumes range from 10 to 40 gallons per acre for field crops, and 2 to 5 gallons per acre for aerial application.

What is the formula this tool uses?

Product per gallon = Label Rate ÷ Spray Volume. Product per tank = Product per gallon × Tank Size. For example, if the label says 16 fl oz/acre and you spray 20 gal/acre: 16 ÷ 20 = 0.8 fl oz per gallon, and for a 100-gallon tank: 0.8 × 100 = 80 fl oz per tank.

Can I use this for dry (wettable powder or water-dispersible granule) products?

Yes. Select "oz (weight) / acre" for the label rate unit. The calculator uses the same formula regardless of formulation type. Always add dry products to partially filled tanks and agitate before topping off with water.

What if my label rate is given as a range (e.g. 8–16 fl oz/acre)?

Run the calculator twice — once at the low rate and once at the high rate. Use the lower rate for preventive applications or lower pest pressure, and the higher rate when pest pressure is severe or plants are at a later growth stage, as directed by the label.

How many acres will a full tank cover?

Acres per tank = Tank Size ÷ Spray Volume. For example, a 300-gallon tank at 20 gallons per acre covers 15 acres. The calculator shows this value in the results so you can plan refills.

Why does the label rate matter if I am just mixing by gallon?

The label rate sets the total active ingredient delivered per acre — this is what controls the pest and what is legally required.
