Summary
Calculate weight-based medication doses for children. Enter child weight and select a medication to get single dose in mg and liquid volume in mL.
How it works
- Enter the child's weight in kilograms or pounds — the unit toggle converts pounds to kg automatically.
- Select a medication from the preset list, or choose Custom to enter your own dose per kg (mg/kg).
- The calculator multiplies weight (kg) by the dose (mg/kg) to give the single dose in milligrams.
- Optionally enter the liquid concentration (mg/mL) to convert the dose into a volume to administer in mL.
- Review the single dose, daily maximum, and mL volume before giving the medication.
Use cases
- Calculate acetaminophen or ibuprofen doses for a febrile child.
- Determine amoxicillin dose for a child with an ear infection.
- Convert a prescribed mg/kg dose to mL for a liquid suspension.
- Double-check a dosing calculation before administration.
