The MIDAS (Migraine Disability Assessment) questionnaire is a validated 5-question tool that quantifies how many days migraines have disrupted work, household tasks, and social activities over the past 3 months. The total score maps to one of four disability grades (I–IV), giving you and your doctor a concrete, reproducible measure of migraine burden. Grades III and IV are often used to guide decisions about preventive migraine therapy.
How it works
- Answer 5 questions about days lost or impaired over the past 3 months due to migraines.
- Questions cover paid work, household work, and non-work social activities.
- Each answer is the number of days (0–90) that migraines affected that activity.
- Your total MIDAS score is the sum of answers to questions 1–5.
- The score maps to one of four grades: I (minimal), II (mild), III (moderate), or IV (severe).
- Two additional questions about headache frequency and pain intensity are recorded separately.
