Manure Application Calculator
Enter your crop nutrient requirements and manure analysis (N, P, K) to calculate the optimal manure application rate per acre.
Manure Parameters
Presets use typical values. Use a lab manure test for precision.
Typical: 0.40–0.55 solid surface-applied; 0.70–0.85 liquid injected. Used only for N calculations.
Choose which nutrient drives the application rate.
From your soil test recommendation or extension crop guide.
Enter total acreage to calculate total manure volume needed.
Fill in the parameters and click Calculate to see your manure application rate.

Summary
Enter your crop nutrient requirements and manure analysis (N, P, K) to calculate the optimal manure application rate per acre.
How it works
- Choose solid or liquid manure form, then pick a livestock preset or enter a custom nutrient analysis.
- Enter N, P2O5, and K2O concentrations in lb per ton (solid) or lb per 1,000 gal (liquid).
- Set the nitrogen availability factor — the fraction of total N plant-available in year one.
- Enter the crop nutrient requirement (lb/acre) for the nutrient driving the rate.
- Click Calculate to see the manure rate per acre and the full NPK load that rate delivers.
Use cases
- Match cattle or hog manure applications to corn nitrogen recommendations.
- Avoid phosphorus over-application on fields with elevated soil P test levels.
- Estimate how many acres a manure storage pit can cover before emptying.
- Compare application rates across different livestock manure types for the same nutrient goal.
- Comply with nutrient management plan requirements for regulated livestock operations.
- Reduce commercial fertilizer purchases by accurately crediting manure nutrients.
