What counts as a line break?

This tool handles all common line endings: Unix (LF, \n), Windows (CRLF, \r\n), and old Mac (CR, \r). All are detected and processed.

What is the difference between "Remove" and "Replace"?

"Remove" deletes the newline character entirely so the words on adjacent lines are joined without any separator. "Replace" substitutes each newline with the separator you choose (e.g. a space or comma).

Can I join lines with a comma or other character?

Yes. Select the "Custom separator" mode and type any character or string in the separator field — comma, pipe, semicolon, or even a multi-character string.

Does this tool send my text to a server?

No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never uploaded or stored anywhere.

How do I collapse multiple blank lines into one?

Enable the "Collapse multiple blank lines" option. Consecutive empty lines will be reduced to a single blank line before the main line-break processing runs.
