HEIC browser note: Most browsers cannot decode raw .heic files. If your file is rejected, rename it to .jpg (iOS exports are often compatible) or convert it to JPEG/PNG first using macOS Preview or Windows Photos, then upload here.

How to convert a true HEIC file

On iPhone / iPad Settings → Camera → Formats → switch to Most Compatible. New shots will be saved as JPEG and open directly in this tool.
On Mac Open the HEIC in Preview → File → Export → choose JPEG or PNG → upload that file here to get a GIF.
On Windows Install HEIF Image Extensions (free, Microsoft Store) → open in Photos → File → Save a copy as JPEG → upload here.

Summary

Upload a HEIC (or JPEG/PNG) photo and download it as a GIF image — entirely in your browser, no upload to any server.

How it works

  1. Click "Choose File" and select a HEIC, JPEG, or PNG image from your device.
  2. The browser decodes the image and renders it on a canvas element.
  3. Optionally resize the output by setting a maximum width.
  4. Click "Convert to GIF" — the gif.js library encodes the canvas frame as a GIF.
  5. A preview appears and a "Download GIF" button lets you save the result.

Use cases

  • Share an iPhone photo in GIF format with apps or services that do not support HEIC.
  • Embed a product photo on a website that requires GIF format.
  • Convert a screenshot taken on iOS to a universally readable image format.
  • Quickly produce a low-color GIF thumbnail from a high-resolution HEIC shot.
  • Prepare images for older email clients that cannot display HEIC or modern JPEG.
  • Batch-preview iPhone photos in GIF for simple web galleries.
