What clearance does the room check use?

The default planning guide is 24 inches. Crate & Barrel suggests leaving 18–24 inches of walking room around furniture, but this is planning guidance rather than a universal building-code result. Adjust for the actual traffic path and local requirements.

Does the doorway result guarantee delivery?

No. It checks whether one rectangular face clears the measured opening in a simple axis-aligned orientation. Door thickness, turns, ceilings, stairs, railings, handles, packaging, weight, and carrying space can still prevent delivery.

Which measurement is length vs. width for a sofa?

Enter the longest horizontal dimension of the sofa as the length and the depth (front-to-back measurement) as the width. For beds, length is head-to-foot and width is side-to-side.

Can I check furniture that goes in the center of the room?

Yes. Select "Center" as the placement option. The calculator places the furniture in the middle of the room and checks clearance on all four sides.

What if my room is not rectangular?

The calculator assumes a rectangular room. For L-shaped or irregular rooms, measure the rectangular zone where the furniture will sit and use those dimensions.

Are diagonal or angled placements supported?

Not currently. The tool handles axis-aligned placements (against a wall or centered). For angled placement, use the longer diagonal dimension of the furniture as a conservative estimate.

What doorway dimensions should I measure?

Measure the narrowest clear width and height after accounting for trim, hinges, handles, and other obstructions. Measure every opening, hallway turn, stair, and elevator along the delivery path.
