Summary

Enter age, total cholesterol, HDL, systolic blood pressure, smoking status, and diabetes to estimate your 10-year cardiovascular disease risk using the Framingham point-score algorithm.

How it works

  1. Select your biological sex (male or female) — the Framingham algorithm uses separate scoring tables for each.
  2. Enter your age in years (30–79 is the validated range).
  3. Enter your total cholesterol and HDL cholesterol values in mg/dL.
  4. Enter your systolic blood pressure in mmHg and indicate whether you are currently on blood pressure treatment.
  5. Check "Current smoker" if you smoke cigarettes and "Diabetes" if you have a diabetes diagnosis.
  6. The 10-year CVD risk percentage and risk category update instantly as you fill in the fields.

Use cases

  • Estimate personal 10-year cardiovascular risk before a doctor's appointment.
  • Understand how cholesterol, blood pressure, and smoking each contribute to heart risk.
  • Track how lifestyle changes (quitting smoking, lowering cholesterol) reduce estimated CVD risk over time.
  • Support clinical decision-making for initiating statin therapy or antihypertensive treatment.
  • Educate patients on modifiable risk factors for cardiovascular disease.
  • Compare risk between treated and untreated hypertension scenarios.
