Summary

Calculate the correct forex lot size based on account balance, risk percentage, stop-loss pips, and currency pair pip value.

How it works

  1. Enter your account balance and select the account currency.
  2. Set the percentage of your account you are willing to risk on this trade (e.g. 1%).
  3. Enter the stop-loss distance in pips for the trade setup.
  4. Select the currency pair and enter the current exchange rate if the quote currency differs from the account currency.
  5. The calculator outputs the position size in standard lots, mini lots, micro lots, and units, plus the exact dollar risk.

Use cases

  • Determine exact lot size before entering a forex trade to enforce strict risk management.
  • Compare position sizes across different currency pairs under the same risk budget.
  • Back-test trade setups by replaying historical pip distances and account sizes.
  • Teach new traders the relationship between lot size, pip value, and account risk.
