Summary
Enter your wort volume, measured gravity, and water added to instantly find the post-dilution specific gravity.
How it works
- Enter the original wort or beer volume in gallons or liters.
- Enter the original specific gravity reading (e.g. 1.060).
- Enter the volume of water you are adding.
- The calculator applies the gravity-points dilution formula: new gravity = ((original gravity − 1) × original volume) / new total volume + 1.
- Read the resulting post-dilution specific gravity and the dilution percentage.
Use cases
- Top off a boil kettle after boil-off to hit a target gravity.
- Correct a high-gravity wort that missed your intended pre-boil target.
- Plan how much water to add before pitching yeast.
- Verify dilution math when splitting a batch into two fermenters.
- Calculate final gravity in a no-sparge or BIAB brew session.
- Adjust wort concentration after adding adjuncts that shift the gravity.
