Why does the output GIF look less sharp than the AVIF?

GIF supports a maximum of 256 colors per frame (8-bit indexed color). Photos or images with many colors will look posterized or banded. For photos, use AVIF to JPG or AVIF to PNG conversion instead.

Can this produce an animated GIF from AVIF?

AVIF is a single-frame still image format by default. The output is therefore a static (non-animated) GIF. Animated AVIF to animated GIF conversion requires a native encoder like FFmpeg.
