Summary

Enter volume, ABV, and drink count to estimate calories from ethanol, US standard drinks, and UK alcohol units; include carbohydrate grams for a closer total energy estimate.

How it works

  1. Select a preset drink type (beer, wine, spirits, cocktail) or choose Custom to set your own volume and ABV.
  2. Enter the serving volume (mL or fl oz), ABV percentage, and number of drinks consumed.
  3. Ethanol mass is calculated using density (0.789 g/mL) and multiplied by 7 kcal/g (Atwater alcohol factor).
  4. Carbohydrates provide 4 kcal/g, either scaled from presets or entered directly for custom drinks and cocktails.
  5. Results report session totals, per-drink calories, pure ethanol mass, US Standard Drinks (14 g pure ethanol), and UK alcohol units (volume × ABV ÷ 1,000).

Use cases

  • Estimate session calorie intake across multiple drinks when managing dietary goals.
  • Compare caloric and alcohol differences between light beer, regular beer, wine, and spirits.
  • Determine exact US Standard Drink (14 g ethanol) and UK Unit equivalents from ABV and volume.
  • Evaluate the calorie contribution of mixers and sugars versus pure ethanol.
