How it works

  1. Choose the calculation mode: Frequency / Bandwidth or RLC Components.
  2. For Freq/BW mode: enter the center (resonant) frequency f0 and the 3 dB bandwidth BW — Q = f0 / BW.
  3. For RLC mode: enter resistance R (ohms), inductance L (henries), and capacitance C (farads), then pick series or parallel topology.
  4. Series RLC: Q = (1/R) × sqrt(L/C). Parallel RLC: Q = R × sqrt(C/L).
  5. The resonant frequency f0 = 1 / (2π × sqrt(LC)) is computed automatically in RLC mode.
  6. Results show Q, f0, and 3 dB bandwidth so you can cross-check both methods.
