How it works
- Enter the transmitter output power in dBm (typical range: -5 to +10 dBm for single-mode).
- Enter the receiver sensitivity in dBm (the minimum power the receiver needs, e.g. -28 dBm).
- Enter fiber attenuation in dB/km and the link distance in km to compute fiber loss.
- Add connector losses: number of connectors and typical loss per connector (usually 0.3–0.5 dB).
- Add splice losses: number of splices and typical loss per splice (usually 0.05–0.1 dB).
- Click Calculate — the tool sums all losses, computes available power budget, link margin, and shows pass/fail.
