Summary
Change the DPI (dots per inch) metadata of JPEG and PNG images in your browser — no upload required.
How it works
- For JPEG files the tool modifies the JFIF APP0 segment bytes that store X/Y density. For PNG files it writes a new pHYs chunk with the equivalent pixels-per-meter value. Both operations happen in JavaScript via ArrayBuffer/DataView — no server involved.
Use cases
- Prepare images for print by setting them to 300 DPI.
- Tag web-optimized images with 72 or 96 DPI metadata.
- Correct DPI metadata on scanned documents.
- Batch-adjust resolution metadata before submitting to a publisher.
