Why gray and curie cannot be converted with a fixed number
Different physical quantities
Gray counts joules of energy absorbed per kilogram of tissue. Curie counts nuclear decay events per second in a source. These are as different as kilometers and kilograms — physically incommensurable without additional context.
What you need to estimate curies from grays
To back-calculate activity from dose you need a dose coefficient (Gy/Bq), which depends on the radionuclide, its emission spectrum, intake pathway, and the target organ. Divide the dose by the coefficient to get becquerels, then convert: 1 Ci = 3.7 × 10¹⁰ Bq.
