Summary

Paste Japanese text with kanji|reading annotations and see formatted furigana (ruby text) above each kanji — plus a quick reference for common kanji readings.

How it works

  1. Type or paste Japanese text in the input box using the kanji|reading format — for example: 日本語|にほんご.
  2. Wrap each kanji+reading pair in curly braces: {日本語|にほんご} for multi-character groups, or just use kanji|reading for a single pair.
  3. Click "Render Furigana" and the tool generates proper HTML ruby annotations displaying readings above the kanji.
  4. Toggle between ruby HTML view and plain text view to see the raw annotations.
  5. Copy the rendered HTML for use in web pages, study notes, or language learning materials.
  6. Browse the reference table below the editor for readings of 100+ common kanji.

Use cases

  • Japanese learners adding reading guides to study materials.
  • Teachers preparing annotated handouts or quizzes with furigana.
  • Writers formatting Japanese text with pronunciation aids for readers.
  • Developers previewing ruby HTML output before embedding in web pages.
  • Language learners double-checking their kanji readings against the reference table.
  • Creating accessible Japanese content for readers still learning kanji.
