Summary

Enter five clinical parameters to calculate the FLIPI score and estimate overall survival risk in follicular lymphoma.

How it works

  1. Select whether the patient is older than 60 years (1 point if yes).
  2. Choose the Ann Arbor stage: stage III or IV scores 1 point; stage I or II scores 0.
  3. Indicate whether more than 4 distinct nodal areas are involved (1 point if yes).
  4. Enter whether serum LDH is above the upper limit of normal for the laboratory (1 point if yes).
  5. Select whether hemoglobin is below 12 g/dL (1 point if yes).
  6. The calculator totals the points and maps the score to a risk group with 5- and 10-year overall survival estimates.

Use cases

  • Stratify newly diagnosed follicular lymphoma patients into risk groups before initiating therapy.
  • Support shared decision-making discussions with patients about prognosis and treatment intensity.
  • Identify high-risk patients who may benefit from more aggressive first-line regimens or clinical trials.
  • Document prognostic risk category in oncology notes and tumor board presentations.
  • Compare FLIPI risk groups in lymphoma research and retrospective audits.
  • Teach hematology/oncology trainees about prognostic scoring in indolent lymphomas.
