What counts as egress?

Egress is data transferred out of a cloud region to the public internet or to other cloud providers. Traffic between services within the same region, or to the same-cloud CDN, is typically free or very low cost and is not modeled here.

Why does pricing change at 10 TB and 50 TB?

All three providers use tiered pricing where the first 10 TB/month is the most expensive bracket. Volumes above that threshold get lower per-GB rates. This calculator applies each tier correctly so large volumes are not over-estimated.

Are these real published prices?

Yes — rates reflect standard US-East internet egress list prices from each provider's public pricing pages. They do not include reserved capacity discounts, committed-use deals, or CDN pricing.

Why is GCP sometimes cheaper at high volumes?

GCP's egress tiers drop more aggressively beyond 10 TB ($0.06/GB) and beyond 150 TB ($0.05/GB). AWS and Azure have a smaller drop. At very high volumes GCP's rates can undercut the others.

Does this include CDN or CloudFront costs?

No — CDN egress has its own pricing (often lower). This calculator covers direct origin egress only. If you use a CDN you will typically pay less than the estimates shown here.
