What plastic densities does this tool support?

Presets include PVC (1380 kg/m³), HDPE (955 kg/m³), LDPE (920 kg/m³), ABS (1050 kg/m³), Polypropylene (905 kg/m³), Polycarbonate (1200 kg/m³), and Nylon 6/6 (1140 kg/m³). You can also enter any custom density.

Does this assume uniform wall thickness on all sides?

Yes. The calculator applies the same wall thickness to all four sides, which is the standard for most extruded rectangular tubes. For non-uniform walls, calculate each wall section separately.

What is the formula used?

Cross-sectional area = (Outer Width × Outer Height) − (Inner Width × Inner Height), where Inner Width = Outer Width − 2×Wall and Inner Height = Outer Height − 2×Wall. Volume = Area × Length. Weight = Volume × Density.

Can I use millimeters and meters together?

No — all dimension inputs must be in the same unit. Select mm or cm or m from the unit selector and keep all fields consistent. The tool converts internally before computing.

Why does it say "wall too thick"?

The wall thickness must be less than half of the shorter outer dimension; otherwise the inner dimension would be zero or negative, meaning it is a solid bar, not a tube.
