Duct Size Calculator

Enter airflow in CFM and target velocity to get the correct round or rectangular duct dimensions for your HVAC system.

Duct Parameters

Typical residential supply: 600–900 FPM. Main trunk: up to 1200 FPM.

Enter airflow and velocity, then click Calculate.

Summary

Enter airflow in CFM and target velocity to get the correct round or rectangular duct dimensions for your HVAC system.

How it works

  1. Enter the required airflow in CFM (cubic feet per minute).
  2. Set the target air velocity in feet per minute (FPM) — typical range is 600–1500 FPM for residential supply.
  3. Choose round or rectangular duct type.
  4. For rectangular ducts, optionally lock one dimension (height) to get the required width.
  5. The tool computes the required cross-sectional area, then derives duct dimensions and the equivalent hydraulic diameter.
