What density is used for aluminum?

The default density is 2.70 g/cm³, which applies to common alloys such as 6061 and 6063. You can enter a custom density if your alloy differs (e.g., 2.66 g/cm³ for 1100 series).

How is the cross-sectional area calculated?

The area is computed as (A + B − t) × t, where A and B are the leg widths and t is the thickness. This subtracts the corner overlap counted twice when you add both legs.

Can I calculate weight for unequal angle bars?

Yes. Simply enter different values for Leg A and Leg B. The formula works for both equal and unequal angle sections.
